In- Home Session Prep Guide

I’m so honored to be invited into your home to capture the season you’re in right now. These sessions are meant to feel calm and authentic—documenting the love, connection, and everyday beauty that lives within your walls. Here are a few ways to prepare so everything feels easy and natural.

Timing Matters

Choose a time of day when your little one is usually happiest—well-fed, rested, and playful.

We’ll move at your family’s pace, taking breaks whenever needed.

Light & Space

Natural light makes all the difference. Select a room with plenty of window light—living rooms, nurseries, and master bedrooms often work beautifully.

Declutter just the spaces we’ll use (no need to deep clean your whole home!). Keeping backgrounds simple helps your family shine.

Have a backup room in mind in case the light shifts.

Comfort is Key

Set the room to a cozy temperature—everyone is more relaxed when they’re comfortable.

Keep snacks, drinks, and small toys nearby for kids. A favorite stuffed animal or book can also add sweetness to your images.

What to Have Ready

Any special keepsakes you’d like included—an heirloom quilt, a favorite toy, or meaningful items from your home.

For families with babies: a few essentials like diapers, wipes, or pacifiers handy.

A favorite toy or item your child loves that makes them laugh or helps capture their attention. Having a song or game they enjoy ready can also help bring out smiles or direct their focus toward the camera.

Pets

Furry family members are always welcome in your session—pets often add such sweetness and personality to your images! I just ask that they be well-behaved and not aggressive.

If you’d like your pet included, please let me know ahead of time so I can plan accordingly. If not, I kindly ask that pets be put away during the session for both my safety and to help keep the focus on your family.

Relax Into It

These sessions are meant to feel unhurried and natural.

I’ll guide you gently, but the most beautiful images often come from in-between moments—snuggling on the couch, reading together, playing on the floor, or simply sharing a laugh.

Remember, this isn’t about creating a “perfect” version of your life—it’s about honoring the love and connection that already exists right where you are.
